Mind you in the grande scheme of things I
have never considered myself a jock, but since living with Mason for the past
12 years (he is after all as close to one as I can get) I have come to
appreciate various sports for various reasons. I’ve always enjoyed hockey since I was a kid, maybe that should have
been the first clue of my Canuck
tendencies, but Mason explained other sports to me so I came to appreciate them
as well. As it goes though my love of
sports goes as such:
Hockey
American/Canadian Football
Soccer
Baseball
Basketball
BostonEven though baseball is far down on the
list I still have a respect for it, even though I thoroughly believe you need
to be drunk to watch all nine innings. However, ever since being a small child, living in Massachusetts, it was
drilled into my head that I should always support the Boston Red Sox no matter where
I went. I actually think there was an
inoculation at birth; I wouldn’t put it past the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. So all during elementary and middle school,
Field Trips to Boston were always on the yearly
calendar and they always ended with a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. So my love of the Sox has been unwavering,
even while living in Denver
and Toronto.
Mason and his family have always loved the
Red Sox as well due to his Dad (that’s his story to tell…), but I have always
called them fair-weather fans as a true Red Sox fan shows no disloyalty…I
thought I was wrong until last night.
Now with the Colorado Rockies playing
the Boston Red Sox in the World
Series I have suddenly seen my home transformed into a war zone as Mason
proudly proclaimed his Rox support last night by pulling out the purple jersey
and CR hat. Truly, he doesn’t deserve to
own a Red Sox hat this morning…sigh.
I hope Boston destroys Colorado.
